The Lightning Process is a unique and empowering brain training program that to date, has positively changed the lives of 25,000+ people from all around the world for the better.

I was one of those people!

And now, thanks to Dr Phil Parker and his team of highly skilled practitioners (myself included!), the ever evolving Lightning Process still continues to empower people from all walks of life and of all ages to effectively harness the power of their brain and physiology so they can rapidly move themselves out of a feeling of being stuck in someway in their lives to a far more appropriate reality of FLOURISHING.

➤ The Lightning Process is known to positively effect...

Whilst the Lightning Process was originally designed in response to the work Dr Parker was doing with clients who presented with M.E./CFS and Fibromyalgia, it has since become well known as a brain training program that can positively effect many other medical and mental health issues such as:

➤  ME, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Post-Viral Fatigue

➤  Fibromyalgia

➤  Long Covid

➤  General Chronic Pain

➤  Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

➤  POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome)

➤  Lupus

➤  Fatigue

➤  Insomnia

➤  Migraines

➤  Depression

➤  Anxiety

➤  Burn Out

➤  Brain Fog

➤  Tinnitus

➤  Chemical Sensitivities

➤  IBS, food intolerances and other digestive issues

➤  …and many other neurological and autoimmune issues

Perhaps one (or a few!) of these resonate with you?

There’s most definitely a few there that once resonated with me!

➤ My Story is Your Story

I’m sure you’ll have already noted that I was once living my version of your current life struggles.

Thanks to the LP though, 24 years of living with ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia came to a magnificent end in May 2016!

The joyous eight years since have been all about catching up on life which has looked, sounded and felt like… rock climbing, mountain biking, travelling, living in a van (by choice!) in the heart of the Snowdonian National Park for a few years and SO much more!

And now, having completed two years of Clinical training with Dr Phil Parker, I can now ‘pay it forward’ as a Lightning Process practitioner and enable others to create their version of my EPIC health recovery story!

➤ So what exactly is the Lighting Process?

The Lightning Process was designed by Dr. Phil Parker PhD in the 1990s in response to his therapy work with people who were experiencing chronic physical and mental health conditions.

It is brain training program that teaches you how to utilise your own mind-body connection and move your physical and mental health from stuck to FLOURISHING.

It is taught over three consecutive days with follow up sessions to help and support you in your LP journey as you move forward with your life.

‘The Lightning Process looks at how we can at will, switch on our mind-body connection. Because if we could learn to do that we would suddenly have access to the most powerful healing mechanism on the planet.

Tthe Lightning Process is a training program that trains you how to use the mind-body connection for yourself. To harness the power of the world’s most advanced healing mechanism. Your own body.’

~ Dr Phil Parker, PhD

The LP enables you to harness three of your physiological processes that together can both positively and negatively impact your physical and mental well-being:

➤  Neuroplasticity

➤  The Physical Emergency Response (PER)

➤  Allostasis

Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity describes our brains amazing ability to rewire and re-shape the 100 trillion neural connections (aka neural pathways) that live in our brain and continually create and re-create the structure of our life experience. There was a time not so long ago, when scientists believed that our brains stopped growing and changing in our early teens. We now know that this isn’t the case and that humans are constantly re-wiring their neural pathways, usually without knowing it, throughout their life-time.

When we are learning to walk, speak a new language, learn and practice a new skill and engage in communication with those around us our neural pathways are busy firing and wiring connections in our brain that embed that learning and experience within us. And as you know, the more you practice anything, the better and more skilled you become at it. This is because each time you repeat an action, the neural pathways associated with it fire and create stronger and faster connections which will enable you to access the skill or memory quicker and become even more efficient at recalling that new phrase that you are learning in Danish. And of course, we engage, create memories and can choose to learn a new skill at any age.

The Physiological Emergency Response

The PER is the physiological system that enables us to fight or take flight when faced with imminent danger. For our prehistoric ancestors the threat might well have been a bear or a tiger in which instance the PER would have served them well and likely have saved their life. In order to get us moving when faced with a threat, our body will activate a sudden release of hormones that include adrenaline and noradrenaline and this release gives our body the boost of energy needed to get us out of danger.

With short lived threats the body is able to return to its normal state quickly once the danger has passed. This means that the effects our PER produces in these acute stressful moments, such as a rapid heartbeat, fast breathing and muscles tension have little chance to negatively impact the body and instead enable us to hopefully stay safe.

Modern threats however, tend to be less imminent. Of course, there will be moments when we will need to take a quick course of action but more often than not our PER is now activated by stresses such as chronic medical conditions, confrontations, divorce, moving house, stressful work situations, giving a presentation or sitting an exam. These types of stresses tend to be more long-term in their nature so this means that our system stays in a constant state of ‘fight or flight’ and is therefore consistently producing adrenaline (along with other hormones).

Allostasis

Allostasis is the process by which our bodily systems adapt during change such as the stress symptoms experienced when in ‘fight or flight’ mode. The physiological effects produced compound over time and create what is known as an allostatic load and this can have a detrimental effect on our physical and mental well-being and lead to chronic medical conditions.

The Good News!

The good news however is that the Lightning Process gives us the tools so that we can harness our neurology and reset our PER. When we do this, the allostatic load is reduced and our physical and mental health returns back into balance.

These tools enable us to use both our body and verbal language to turn off the neural pathways that no longer serve us and instead turn on neural pathways that will move us from stuck to FLOURISHING

➤ So how does the technique work?

In these two short videos, the designer of the Lightning Process himself, Dr Phil Parker, Phd explains how it all works!

It is important to note, that the Lighting Process is a training program. Therefore, we the practitioners do not guarantee results.

While we are there to coach and support the participant before, during and after the training, for excellent reasons explained here within the LP section of my website, the outcome is very much in the trainees own hands which is what makes taking the Lightning Process a truly empowering experience.

The Lightning Process is a non medical approach to mental health issues and physical conditions and that therefore, the practitioners are not qualified to diagnose or give medical advice.
