It’s in these moments that we are reminded of who we are and all that we are capable of achieving. But first, we must turn down the volume of our life so we can hear ourselves reminding ourselves of these truths.

So if you can, find your ‘float’ and embrace the calm that’s waiting for you because it truly is a gift that gives us humans the space to reset so that we can go forth and be not only who we are but also, all that we aspire to become 🫶🏻

And of course, action creates agency and what could be more self-empowering than that?! 💪🏻

Of course, change can be daunting and even scary at times but change is where the magic happens. So embrace change as a powerful catalyst for transformation.

❥ Hey so what’s going on in your life right no ❥ Hey so what’s going on in your life right now that you’re over-complicating?

‘Coz I hear you. 
We all do it. 

And usually multiple times throughout each and every single day.

Yay us! 🙌🏻

Something feels BIG and overwhelming and so our brains disappear into all of the deepest, darkest corners of the ‘thing’ so we can get on top of it. But of course, this chaotic approach just leads to all kinds of inner chaos and before we know it we have completely, utterly and brilliantly over-complicated the ‘thing’ and are feeling far from being on top of it.

So my darling Dad knew this is something that I was and still am, very good at doing and so would often remind me to ‘keep it simple’.

And bless him, he meant well but those three words would often just frustrate me as how could I possibly keep this thing simple that was demanding so much from me?!

But he was right.

Each and every single time 🙌🏻

And over the years, I came to realise this and now I hear him say this whenever I notice myself starting to spiral into brilliant over-complication. Yay me!

The truth it, the ‘thing’ in front of me can always go one of two ways.

It can go simply or it can get rather unnecessarily complex!

And luckily for me, and you it is always down to us which way it goes.

Now I’m not saying it’s easy to change the habit of a life-time.

Like right now, I’m writing this post to you about ‘keeping it simple’ and as the minutes tick by I am literally noticing myself starting to over-complicate a post about simplyfy-ing life 🤦🏻‍♀️

So I’m hearing his calming voice and I’m bringing myself back to the truth of those three words so that I spend an appropriate amount of time writing this but don’t end up losing precious time faffing when whilst the grammar maybe far from perfect,  it’s good enough 👌🏻

So in the spirit of my Dad’s wisdom, I’m going to finish here. Editing and all.

Because he was right.

So again.

What are you over-complicating right now that could use some brilliant simplyfy-ing?

Because I know what my darling Dad would tell you (and me) to do 🫶🏻

❥ HOW TO transform reactive life moments 🙋🏻‍♀️
We all know those moments.
Someone or something has challenged us.
We’ve reacted impulsively.
And now we’re in an even more challenging scenario.

And we’re wishing that we could have just reacted differently 🤦🏻‍♀️

Well. 
We can… react differently.

But this new reaction needs the space within which it can occur.

So in this short video, I explain how to ‘Get Into The Gap’ and create space so that when it’s that next challenging time (and the one that will inevitably be after that!) we can instead, choose to come from a whole new non-reactive place 🙌🏻

And what a wonderful and transformative moment that will be! 👏🏻

❥ Albert Einstein once famously wrote: “Nothin ❥ Albert Einstein once famously wrote: “Nothing happens until something moves” meaning that for something to happen, one must make something happen.

Talk about an empowering quote that’s a powerful reminder that all progress, change, and success start with action! 

Whatever the size of the dream or goal, nothing will materialise without taking that first step. Waiting for the perfect moment, the right circumstances or enough motivation is really just us creating endless excellent excuses that enable us to stay safe and not get hurt by that ‘thing’ potentially not working out.

So we don’t make a move and nothing happens and we’re stuck.

But of course, this doesn’t keep us safe because when we’re stuck we’re in a whole other sad place. 

So really we might as well choose the option of taking a deep breath and putting ourselves out there because only when we do this do we give ourselves and that ‘thing’ potential to become everything we dream of and desire.

I mean… what’s the best that could happen, right? 🤷🏻‍♀️

And wonderfully for us, we can choose movement any time we want! 

It’s all around us just waiting for us to connect with it and set it off in the direction we choose.

And it’s in this movement and the momentum where the magic happens. Even the smallest actions can set things into motion and lead to bigger breakthroughs. 

Think of it like rolling that tiny snowball until it becomes big enough to sit on top of your snowman’s body and have a carrot stuck in it for a nose ☃️ 

As soon as you push, your creation starts to grow and gain energy.

And I’ll bet your bottom dollar that you’ll find your confidence growing along with it!

❥ SO WHAT WILL YOU MOVE AND MAKE HAPPEN TODAY? 

Remember, it’s not about being perfect or having everything figured out; it’s about showing up, taking that initial step, and letting things unfold as you go.

Growth, change, and success all start when you decide to move. 

So… what are you waiting for?

❥ So tell me, are you shoulding all over yoursel ❥ So tell me, are you shoulding all over yourself? 🤔
Well, if you are then the next time you catch yourself saying “I “should”...”, I want you to hear me saying to you, “You are shoulding ALL over yourself!” 💩⁠ 

This is something I find myself regularly saying to my clients (and myself!) because “should” is far too common a word in our vocab that is heavy and that has the potential to bring all the guilt and pressure to the party of our life. It more often than not, also leads us right down the path to procrastination. 

And really, who wants to go there?!

So the next time you catch a “I should do this” swap it to saying, “I get to do this” instead. 

For example, try right now saying “I should go to that meeting” or “I should do my homework” and then say, “I GET TO go to that meeting” or “I GET TO go and do my homework” and notice how your brain hears the latter version differently and how your mindset starts to shift around that ‘thing’.

For me, ‘should’ feel heavy and weighted whereas ‘get to’ feels exciting! 

And so I’m betting the meeting now sounds like something you want to go to and who knew there was a way of making homework sound like something you’d actually want to do! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s quite likely that your brain will also then follow up your new ‘get to’ version with lots of positives that are linked to the ‘thing’ due to your new found interest in the ‘thing’ you now ‘get to’ go and do. 

SO many word swap wins! 🙌🏻

So, switch “I should” to “I get to” when you catch it throughout your day and enjoy how it shifts your energy and motivation for all that lies ahead!

And it feels like the chaos that is occurring all around you is also within you?

Well, right there in the midst of those overwhelming moments is your invitation to slow down and connect with the stillness that’s also within you.

Because this stillness is where the magic happens ✨

I’m not talking about slowing down your entire life here—I’m talking about becoming present amid the chaos.

Because from this place, we can re-group and re-connect with ourselves and then head back out into our life feeling centred and grounded.

And of course, it’s from this place that we can then wield our actual magical human powers and create and live a magnificent life for ourselves that also positively impacts those around us.

So as you’re reading this now just pause… and take a slow, deep breath with me.
Allow your beautiful breathing to take you deep within to find your place of peace.
And when you’ve found it… just be within it for this moment.
Spend as long here as is right for you.
And then when you’re ready.
In your own time.
Allow the stillness to guide and accompany you back out into your day and life 💫

Just remember to listen to your inner voice when it calls to remind you to slow down and re-connect with the stillness that lies waiting within you.

❥ I get it. It’s often fear that has us speaki ❥ I get it. It’s often fear that has us speaking the words ‘I can’t’.
When we say ‘I can’t…’ though, we’re basically telling our brain that there’s nowhere left to go. We’re pretty much writing ’The End’ while the story is still unfolding.

And of course, we in part say these words so we can stay safe. If we don’t put ourselves out there we can’t get hurt etc. 

But I bet that ‘thing’ was something that you were actually MORE than capable of achieving.
 
Trust me. 
I know it was and I know you are ♡

So the next time you notice you’re speaking the ‘I can’t’ from a place of fear, ask ‘How can I…..?’ instead and give yourself and your brilliant brain the opportunity to explore the endless magnificent ways in which you are actually more than able of achieving that ‘thing’.

That ‘thing’ that you previously thought was out of your league.

And as you ask this simple question of yourself, enjoy how that fear begins to dissolve in the midst of you and your beautiful brain coming up with a plethora of answers and ways in which you can move forward and ACHIEVE and THRIVE ✯

And then come back here and tell me I was right about you being magnificent and beyond able to make that ‘thing’ so 😉

❥ The mountain called and so I went! 👣 This ❥ The mountain called and so I went! 👣 
This photo is of me with my good buddy Tryfan in N. Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It’s been my favourite of ALL the mountains for the last 30 years or so from the very first time I had the immense pleasure of hiking up it in my teens to this recent day of rock climbing 🙌🏻

Tryfan forms part of the Glyderau group most commonly summited from the Ogwen Valley. It proudly standing 917.5 metres above sea level and is the fifteenth-highest mountain in Wales. 

There’s just something about it though that makes it very special. It’s distinctive unique Stegosaurus 🦖 shape makes it really stand out from the other surrounding mountains of the Glyders. 

🍃 It has such powerful and peaceful presence.

🍃 It’s got it’s own thing going on.

🍃 It knows its self and because of this, sits comfortably within a surrounding landscape that is so different and yet it belongs.

I often feel there’s a lesson in there for us all 💛

I’ve lost count of how many happy days I’ve spent walking up it or rock climbing on it since and every time I find myself lucky enough to be in its magnificent company, I feel immensely grateful and nourished 🙃

Immersing ourselves in nature is one of the most powerful ways to rejuvenate both body and mind🌲✨ 

Studies show that being surrounded by nature can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, while boosting creativity, focus, and overall happiness. Whether it’s the smell of pine in a forest, the calming sound of a lapping sea at the shore or the awe-inspiring views from a mountain summit, nature has a way of grounding us and reminding us of the beauty that exists beyond our busy lives. 

So the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed and need a nourishing reset, consider spending some time in the mountains, in a forest or park or by the sea and let nature work its magic for you 🪄

It’s not just an escape — it’s a path to healing and balance 🌿

And of course, it’s a path that I would HIGHLY recommend 🫶🏻

👉🏻 Or catastrophising a future that is yet to be 🫣 …we all do it! 🙋🏻‍♀️

Well, wherever you find yourself right now, take a slow deep breath with me and bring yourself fully into your present moment by saying out loud or quietly within your beautiful mind and self:

“HERE I AM” 💫 

And as you say this, truly feel what it feels like to BE… HERE… NOW… ☀️

🍃 Allow the words to bring you back into your body. 

🍃 Notice the temperature in the air around you. 

🍃 Sense the feeling of the clothes on your skin.

🍃 Feel the sensation of your breath moving through your body filling you with peace 🌿

This is such a simple and beautiful affirmation to speak throughout your day so use it, whenever you need it, to slow down your crazy busy life so you can be magnificently in the present.

Just where you belong 🫶🏻

And of course, the more you practice being present, the more grounded, peaceful, and connected you will feel without even having to try throughout your day 🙌🏻

Have you ever felt like you’ve lost all sense of yourself within a relationship? 

Perhaps you are even feeling that right now… 🫶🏻

“I don’t know where they end and I begin,” is something we often hear in movies and while it sounds romantic, it can also be a sign that the boundaries are blurred. In real life, this type of dynamic can feel overwhelming and anxiety inducing, especially when you start losing touch with your own needs and identity.

Maintaining healthy boundaries is so important for us humans. They enable us to stay connected in a healthy way to those who are great for us. Importantly though, they also disconnect with those who are no longer good for us which is only going to be a good thing in the long run for both parties. Even if they other person doesn’t understand this at the time. 

So remember that you’re creating boundaries, that you are doing so for the good of others as well as for yourself. And what could be a more loving gift than that for both you and all who were once around you and for those who are lucky enough to be around you still…

So the next time you find yourself feeling lost within and overwhelmed by a blurred boundary with someone or something, use my simple visualisation (in the video) to give you a that much needed distance and space from within which you can move forward in a healthy and empowered way 🙌🏻

You’ll be surprised at how much clarity and peace this simple mindset shift can bring.

❥ How do you get yours? Your mental health fix I ❥ How do you get yours?
Your mental health fix I mean 💫

Well, this is just one my favourite ways to get mine. 
For obvious reasons. 
I mean. 
Would you just LOOK at his little face! 😍

This is Happy who I recently had the adorable pleasure of hanging out with for a week in the Peak District. And you can bet your bottom dollar that we shared some most excellent adventures together out in the hills along with endless snuggles like this one! 🥰

Along with the aforementioned snuggles, I think the most heartwarming gift animals give us is their ability to live in the moment. They don’t worry about the future or dwell on the past, instead they simply and effortlessly remind us of the beauty that’s right here in the present moment. Their playful spirits and gentle presence being their loving way of pulling us out of our minds so we can join them in peace-filled and nourishing states like joy and calm instead.

While in our best of times, our furry friends provide a constant loving companion with which to share our life’s adventures, in times of emotional and mental hardship, they can become our silent therapist. Whether through the wag of a tail or the soft nuzzle of a nose, they offer us unconditional love, reduce stress, provide structure, encourage social interaction, help us to stay present and offer affection without judgment. 

Their presence alone can reduce feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and stress. Scientific studies show that spending time with animals releases oxytocin, the “love hormone,” which promotes relaxation and a sense of connection and what could be more nourishing for our mental health than that?

As for Happy and the other furry friends I’ve had the joy of spending time with this past year, they’ve truly been the BEST kind of therapy. They’ve just been right there, ready to listen, and offer comfort without asking for anything in return—except love and a snuggle 🥰

And I’m RIGHT here to reciprocate that love tenfold, filled with gratitude for how they’ve helped me navigate those rocky moments in my mental health journey keeping me balanced, grounded and connected to my true self 🫶🏻

Perhaps you’re in a stressful job, an unhealthy relationship or you just have that overwhelming feeling that things just aren’t going your way.

And of course, it’s in these times when we most need clarity but the reality is, it’s in these times that clarity can feel impossible to find. 

It can feel like we’re literally drowning in the struggle and there’s no way out. And that’s a pretty tough place to be.

Sometimes life requires us to act on impulse so that we can protect ourselves and of course, express good things in good life moments!

Perhaps we’ve stepped out onto the road and haven’t noticed the bus coming and we need our ninja reaction skills to swiftly and skilfully leap us out of the way! 🥷 

Or we’ve been thrown a surprise party and on discovery we find ourselves reacting… hopefully in a happy way! 😃🎉

The other type of reaction though is the less helpful kind for us, those around us and for the situation.

We all know the type. 
The kind of scenario that would be better served by us being able to take a step back to regroup before reacting.

Something happens that upsets, scares, panics and stresses us and before we know it we’ve reacted without any thought, either to how we are reacting or to the consequence of our reaction.

But the awesome thing here is that we do have agency in this moment. We just need to practice our self-awareness skills and get in the gap before we react.

Easier said than done I know. 
Hence, my writing ‘we need to practice’.

Our reactions are one of many precursors to what comes next in our life so learning to harness that impulsive reaction so that we can have more agency over how we respond is key to ensuring that what comes next, is good and nourishing for all involved.

So in this short 90-second video, I share one of my favourite ways to turn potentially reactive moments into far more useful and appropriate moments of calm and space from which you can regroup and move forward with clarity.

And this, of course, can always only be a super way to move ourselves forward 👌🏻

This particular meditation has been a favourite of mine for the last twenty years or so and I often find myself speaking these lines to bring myself back into the present moment 💫

I would highly recommend looking Thích Nhất Hạnh up on YouTube as you’ll find lots more magical meditations of his like this one and many powerful teachings by him that will also enable you to be more present in your day and more importantly, more present in your being 🫶🏻

❥ GRAVITATE TOWARDS THE GOOD …so I just wanted ❥ GRAVITATE TOWARDS THE GOOD …so I just wanted to share a realisation that I had a few years ago in the hope that it might help and shift you in some way as it did me.

I was riding along on my bike and at that time, I was going through a particularly dark time, it being the early days of Covid and my darling Dad having not long passed away. There were also other significant life struggles going on at that time so it truly was a challenging period of my life.

The birds were singing and the sun was shining on this particular day but underneath the beauty, I could hear the noise in my head of the dark thoughts and could feel the chaos of the anxiety within my body.

But as I was riding along, through all of that noise and chaos, I suddenly heard myself saying very loudly and very clearly within my brilliant brain, “Why am I always pushing myself into the hard places rather than gravitating towards the things that make me feel good?!”

This was such a showstopper for me that I jumped off my bike and immediately messaged a friend to share this because it was such a revelation. And it’s always good to share our revelations! 

Now of course, we need to keep working on being self-aware so we can get inside those dark places and redirect ourselves back out into the light. So keep being amazing at doing that as I’m sure you already are!

But I wanted to share this one with you in case it might resonate and be a bit of a showstopper for you too. 

Contemplate it, see where it sits for you and if it might start to shift the course of your life as it did mine on that revelatory day!
